Does the Baptist Church really preach against the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? | |
I've been told that in Baptist churches there is actually anti-Mormon literature given out. Is this true? If so, why does this happen?
Jeancommunicates - my church teaches to preach against false doctrine too. So who's right. Can't we all just get along? My God is a God of love, what is your God?
Bull, I have an actual pamphlet, from a Baptist person, that denounces the LDS faith. How do you explain that?
Answers:
1As and LDS member, I hear stories from missionaries who return from pretty much anywhere about anti-Mormon teachings. I wouldn't judge the baptists or any other religion for it, because there are so many churches out there, and each congregation is different. People aren't perfect. I will admit that even in the LDS church there are members who have misconceptions about other churches.
The other day I followed on of the links that someone posted on this page to some pages meant to be anti-Mormon, just to see what it was about. Their quotes were actual quotes, and I had heard most of them, but there were a lot of partial quotes or doctrines isolated from the context in which they were used. This confusion about what the LDS church teaches is, in my opinion, the source of anti-Mormon sentiments.
